Fees for adult education courses

Find out what you will have to pay for your course and if you are eligible to study with us.

The Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) subsidises the cost of our courses. This means that the government pays for most of your course, and your fees cover the rest of the cost.

Adult education fees for 2024–25

  • The fee rate for European Economic Area (EEA) residents is £6.50 an hour.

  • Many courses offer a concessionary fee of £3.25 an hour.

  • The rate for non-EEA residents is £8 an hour.

  • Some courses have no fees, such as qualification courses in English or maths).

Studio classes

  • Some of our courses are studio classes. These give you access to our high-quality equipment and studios.

  • At these sessions, you are free to spend more time developing expertise in your subject with the support of experienced tutors.

  • The fee per hour for studio classes is £8 an hour.

Cost of materials

  • For some courses you need to pay for materials. We will list these as a materials fee when you enrol.

Eligibility criteria

  • To be eligible for the £6.50 or £3.25 hourly fees, or for free courses, you need to have been an EEA resident for three years or more.

  • If you have not been an EEA resident for three years, you can still take our courses if your UK residency status entitles you to funded education. You need to bring evidence (e.g. from the Home Office) when you enrol.

  • Contact us for more information about what evidence is acceptable.

  • If you are not eligible for this funding, you may still be able to enrol at the non-EEA resident rate, which is £8 per hour.
